Nikhil Nagesh Bhat

Nikhil is a leading Indian writer-director with experience across films and series. Nikhil began his career as the Creative Consultant for Anurag Kashyap's highly acclaimed feature Black Friday. Nikhil's feature debut as writer-director, Salunn, premiered at the Cairo Film Festival in 2009 and won the Remi Award for Best Film in Comedy at Worldfest Houston Film Festival and the Golden Ace Award for Special Cinematic Experience at the Las Vegas Film Festival. Nikhil's other directorial ventures include the short film Biogas ka Bindaas Business, the feature Brij Mohan Amar Rahe which premiered at SAIFF (New York), and series such as Rasbhari, produced by Applause and streaming on Prime Video, and The Gone Game, which was filmed entirely during the lockdown and received both critical and commercial praise. Nikhil has previously worked as co-director on award-winning documentaries such as Seven Tales from an Island and as associate director on The Great Indian Tiger Project and Extras. His last feature film Hurdang, produced by T-Series and Karma Pictures, starring Sunny Kaushal, released in theatres in 2022. He is currently in post-production for his upcoming feature, Apurva, with Cine1 Studios starring Tara Sutaria. Most recently, Nikhil also wrapped his action feature film Kill, co-produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023. In parallel, Nikhil has also been developing original feature and series projects.
