Sophie Howell

Sophie Howell was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the only child of John Howell and Laura Mauffray Borchert. In 1991, when she was just a baby, Sophie played Kevin Costner and Sissy Spacek's youngest child "Scooter," in Oliver Stone's JFK. She was enamored with performing from an early age, acting in school plays and dancing at Giacobbe Academy of Dance, including several performances in The Nutcracker. At the age of seventeen, she rejoined the film community and acted in her first short film, while studying with the New York Film Academy in London. She received a B.A. in Theatre Performance from Louisiana State University studying Meisner technique, Fitzmaurice voice work, stage combat, dialects, and improv. Upon graduating, she moved to New Orleans to begin an acting career in the prosperous film industry of "Hollywood South." For several years she worked in production as a crew member while pursuing acting. Her most notable credits as a crew member came from her job as an extras casting assistant for Jurassic World and from her role as Props Stylist for Vogue Magazine's February 2018 Editorial Shoot. Sophie is an active member of the independent filmmaking scene in New Orleans, acting in independent feature and short films for local production companies like Comfystone Films and Worklight Pictures. She has made several television appearances, including her role as Barb in "Trailer Park Shark", for which she shaved off her eyebrows. These days she splits her time between New Orleans and Atlanta acting for film, television, and commercials.
