James Andrew Fraser
James Andrew Fraser was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. He is of Scottish, Irish and Flemish ancestry. His father Donald Andrew Fraser is a retired executive of a Canadian Grocery Chain; his mother Bernice Ina (nee VanDeKerckhove) is a nurse. His fascination with acting was sparked when a babysitter told him that Daniel Day-Lewis was "just pretending" in "My Left Foot". He had his first taste of "pretending" playing a chick in his Kindergarten class play. He continued acting in school productions but in high school he choose sports over the theatre as being an actor seemed like an impossible dream.
However, he didn't stay away too long as James auditioned on a whim for a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and was cast as Demetrius. The following year he attended St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Once again he pushed his dream aside and played on the Rugby team but after he injured his shoulder for the second time he finally got involved with Theatre Antigonish. He acted in six of their productions ranging from Musicals to Shakespeare.
Doing what was expected of him he moved back to Calgary and worked in Finance. A little while later with his promotion papers sitting in front of him he refused to sign and quit to pursue his dream. Shortly after James and his friends made a short about distracted driving entitled "Trafford Road". It screened the following year at the Edmonton International Film Festival. James then moved to Toronto to help propel his acting career.
In Toronto, James was cast in film, television, and commercials. He also produced and directed some of his award winning writing (Fresh Voices Top Ten & Semi-Finalist). After performing for renowned acting coach Tom Todoroff he was offered a spot at his Conservatory in NYC.
James now lives and works between Canada and the U.S. You can see him on "The Enemy Within", "BULL" , "Blue Bloods" and "The Blacklist" or starring in "TAPE" a web series he directed, co-wrote, and produced which was picked up by a distributor and is now available on Amazon, "Dark Horse" (a web series with over 30K followers) or in a handful of short films one of which "Buffalo" James was nominated for "Best Actor" at the Madrid International Film Festival and at PIIF (Prague International Indie Film Festival) as well as on @_lion_eyez an Instagram account inspired by his short of the same name which is in pre-production. And let's not forget "Gabriel's Inferno" a NY Times Bestselling Book Series. James snagged one of the coveted leads roles in the production. The first book is streaming now on Passionflix a romance inspired streaming service founded by Tosca Musk.
