Gauri Shankar is of Indian descent and an actor by profession. He has been a part of movies with varied backgrounds ranging from commercial Bollywood, Tollywood to Indie and Short films. He has an experience in theatre as well. His career debut in Bollywood was in 'Kranti' starring Bobby Deol followed by 'Laal Salaam'. Ever since there has been no looking back. He has been a part of Internationally acclaimed short films that prevail and deal with the various socio-economic factors of the Indian Society in general. His short film 'The Assassination' has been recognized and awarded at the San Francisco Film Festival and the Philadelphia Film Festival. Other notable appearances in Bollywood are: 'Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local', 'Tom Dick And Harry' , 'Jai Veeru', 'Rama Rama Kya Hai Ye Drama', 'Rajdhaani Express', and 'Bandook', 'Policegiri' and many more. His 2012 release 'Shudra-The Rising' was a part of the Goa Film Festival in the same year.The movie focused on the lives of the Shudras the lowest Varna of classes in Indian society also called the untouchables. His movie 'Kapat' was among the movies which screened at the Jaipur Film Festival in 2013.
