Anil Anto
Anil Anto is an Indian Malayalam-language actor from Kerala, India who is known for the film, Second Show (2012), a Malayalam-language film directed by Srinath Rajendran starring Dulquer Salman and Sunny Wayne.
He started his career in acting as a junior artist in the films 'Ravanaprabhu', 'Saivar Thirumeni' and 'Vinodayathra'. He completed an acting course at NEO Film School. Soon after that the director Srinath Rajendran noticed his acting in one of the short films he performed and offered a role in 'Second Show'. The actor got recognition for his role in 'Immanuel' from the Mammootty-Fahad Faasil-Lal Jose team.
Mr. Anil Anto has acted in around 20 short films as of 2021. The short film 'Pillow Nothing But Life' by Francis Joseph Jeera is the one which got him to the National and International awards. He acted the character of Newton, a suicidal guy who grieves for not achieving the life he hoped for, and his self conflicts are explored in 'Pillow Nothing But Life'. The short film has won around 17 awards at national and international levels for Best Actor, Best Debut Director, Best Experimental Movie, Best Cinematography. The Best Actor awards from Port Blair International Film Festival and Kalaburagi International Film Festival adds glory to the short film and for the actor. He was also one of the finalists for the Best Actor award in the New York Film Festival and got a special mention for it. The short film has not yet been released commercially since it is still participating in different film festivals.
Anil Anto also acted a good role in the film 'Avicharitha' by late director Shanavas Naranipuzha who directed 'Sufiyum Sujathayum'. The movie is planning to be released on an OTT platform. He also acted in the film 'Mulan (2020)' by Niki Caro starring Jet Lee.
